Guided tour: Toulon through time

About

Discover Toulon during a rich visit through the historical adventures of the first city of the Var.

Your guide tells you about the birth and tumultuous development of this city between sea and mountains, a target of invasions and epidemics.
You explore the old town centre, between Provençal buildings and Haussmannian buildings, and make stops in front of its cathedral, its fountains and its famous market on Cours Lafayette.
As you head towards the unmissable Toulon naval base, a symbol of French naval power, your guide tells you about the floating prison, mentioned by Victor Hugo in Les Misérables.
You come across references to Raimu throughout the city, which are all tributes to the Toulon-born actor.
You admire the modernity of the front, an example of contemporary architecture, and learn more about Pierre Puget, a sculptor from Marseille.
And finally, you end the visit at the foot of Cuverville, an affectionate nickname given by the people of Toulon to the statue of the Genius of Navigation.
