Forcalqueiret

Installé dans une petite plaine fertile, Forcalqueiret est un village paisible où la rue principale est incontournable, aux jolies façades restaurées. Au sommet d'une colline, se trouvent les vestiges de ce qui fût la plus importante forteresse du Var.

The small village of Forcalqueiret is located in the Issole valley, with its shaded squares and flowery alleyways.

On a steep rock overlooking it stand the imposing remains of the largest Castellas (fortified castle) in the Var. The summit of the rocky outcrop is entirely surrounded by a perimeter wall that encloses the castle and the village; a deep moat completes the defensive system.
