The Correns cooperative winery "Vignerons de Correns" was founded in 1930, it has thirty member winegrowers and cultivates 180 hectares of vines.
The terroir: Its territory extends from the Argens valley, passes through the outskirts of the village, and stretches towards the narrower plateaus near the Bessillon. This mountain, 813 m high, has limestone rocks dating from the Jurassic period. Its name comes from "bessoun," meaning "twins" (it does indeed have a "brother," the "little Bessillon," further west, which reaches a height of 669 meters).
The plots of limestone tufa around the village provide the finest vintages, as they benefit from a microclimate at the foot of the Bessillon, with very cool nights and a rich hydrographic network, full of springs, which feed the Argens.
The clay-limestone plots along the riverbank, as well as the stonier hillsides, display true typicity, allowing for variations in blends and an expansion of the range of wines.
Winemaking: The 180 hectares of vineyards are planted on a late-ripening terroir, particularly well-suited to white wine production. Today, in addition to the 1001 hectares cultivated organically, 201 hectares are farmed biodynamically. While the winemakers of Correns are involved in all three colors, a special place is reserved for the white wine of Correns, which has always been renowned.
