The ruins of Castellas

About

The Castellas castle is a ruin perched south of the Alpilles mountain range. Dating from the 12th century, it overlooks the town of Aureille and offers a view overlooking the Crau plain.

Its remains bear witness to the siege of the castle in 1592 to dislodge Captain Rondellet's troops. The castle gate was restored a few years ago. Two sections of wall remain.
