Museum of the Empéri, Salon and Crau and Théodore Jourdan room

Its collections are representative of life in Salon, from Antiquity to the 20th century, across the ages in fields as varied as archaeology, the oil and soap industry, agriculture or religious art.

Théodore Jourdan Room
They offer an approach to the work of the Salonais master and the landscapes that inspired him with a collection of canvases, including 19 large format, studies and drawings.

These works, from the last period (1880-1908) of Théodore Jourdan, depict scenes of pastoral life in Provence, particularly in the Crau region. They bear witness to pastoral life and the landscapes of the Crau and belong to the Provençal naturalist painting movement of the late 19th century. The painter affirms his attachment to Provence, as did the proponents of the Félibrige movement, Frédéric Mistral and his poet friends, during the same period.

Throughout the year, educational and cultural activities linked to the student's artistic and cultural education pathway (PEAC) are offered to students from kindergarten to high school and take place in the museum or outside the museum.

The documentation center of the Musée de l'Empéri, and of the museum of Salon & de la Crau, is open only to students and researchers by appointment, from Monday to Friday from 2pm to 4:30pm.

The Château de l'Empéri, with its courtyards, its Physic Garden and its terrace, is open to visitors every day (except Tuesday), from 10am to 12pm and from 1:30pm to 5pm. Free admission.

The Empéri Museum and the Théodore Jourdan rooms are closed until May 2026. Reopening is planned for the Night of Museums in May 2026.
