About
In Hyères, near the Mediterranean, a Cru Classé of the Côtes de Provence since 1955…A beautiful terroir and the best Mediterranean grape varieties, a long and beautiful history, a modern cellar and a dynamic team make Château de Mauvanne a sure bet.
With its 43 hectares under production, Château de Mauvanne boasts a very diverse range of grape varieties. For red and rosé wines, these include Grenache, Syrah, Cinsault, Mourvèdre and Tibouren, complemented by Carignan and Cabernet Sauvignon.
For white wines, Rolle sits alongside Ugni-Blanc and Clairette.
With quality being its primary concern, the estate practices sustainable agriculture, avoiding all chemical fertilizers.
The Côtes de Provence appellation is located within the geographical area of Mediterranean Provence. Bordering the Mediterranean coast, this zone extends from Fréjus to Hyères. The vineyard soils in this area originate from the weathering of rocks belonging to the Massif des Maures and the Estérel.
The climate of the appellation area is particularly suited to vine cultivation. It is Mediterranean in type and therefore characterized by long, hot, dry and sunny summers (approx. 3000 hours per year), and by mild and rainy winters.
