About
Minuty is first and foremost a family story, a story of expertise and respect for the land spanning nearly 90 years. For four generations, the Matton-Farnet family has been dedicated to crafting the iconic rosé, white, and red wines of the Côtes de Provence.
Château Minuty is a 200-hectare vineyard estate:
-65 hectares in Gassin in one single block.
-15 hectares in Ramatuelle, facing Pampelonne Bay.
-120 hectares in Le-Cannet-des-Maures and Vidauban.
The property was bought in 1936 by Gabriel Farnet from the Germondi family. He discovered a 17-hectare estate of vineyards, a château, and a 19th-century chapel. After the Second World War, he replanted the vineyard and began producing red and rosé wines.
In 1955, Château Minuty was one of 23 properties to be distinguished as a Cru Classé of the Côtes de Provence.
In 1960, Monique Matton, daughter of Gabriel, accompanied by her husband Étienne Matton, restructured the vineyard together. That same year, Monique designed the iconic Côtes de Provence bottle, which would be named "Flûte et corset" (Flute and Corset), now associated with the Minuty M rosé cuvée.
From the 1990s onwards, their two sons, Jean-Étienne and François Matton, became involved in this adventure.
They revisit the winemaking process and create the house's signature style: a strong aromatic expression combining finesse, elegance, and freshness, across a range of Château wines and high-quality branded wines. Today, Minuty offers four wine ranges and is present in over 100 countries.
Since acquiring the château, no herbicides have been used on the vines, and their fertilizers are organic. Each plot is cultivated using sustainable farming practices. This virtuous approach has enabled them to obtain two environmental certifications.
Healthy soil is fundamental to the proper development of the vines. That's why we've been using cover crops for over 10 years. These consist of a mixture of well-known legumes and grasses that don't compete with the vines.
But the major challenge in the coming years is to limit the effects of global warming.
