About
Le Grand Cros is the story of a couple, Hugh and Jane Faulkner, who fell in love with a vineyard. Le Grand Cros is located at the foot of the Massif des Maures, in the central Var region and in the heart of the Côtes de Provence AOC.
The 30 hectares of vineyards lie alongside pine trees, olive groves, and terraced fields, at the heart of which stands an authentic Provençal farmhouse. Hugh Faulkner, a Canadian, took on the challenge of restoring old olive groves, allowing us to produce our own olive oil. Jane is a professional artist who previously worked as a creative in an advertising agency. She is responsible for creating our logo, the first labels, and the estate's packaging. Julian, their eldest son, took over the estate in 2000 after completing a Master's degree in wine estate management in Bordeaux. He handles export sales. Stéphane manages the cellar (winemaking, bottling, etc.). Joy manages the tasting room, administration, and logistics. Saïd manages the vineyards and our team of workers. To help with production, we can also count on Meryem, Hassan, Aziz, and seasonal workers.
WINES
* Côtes de Provence rosé, Cuvée L'Esprit de Provence
A lovely peach-colored robe with salmon highlights. The nose is expressive and complex with aromas of passion fruit, white flowers, flint, and a hint of guava. The palate is fresh and fruity, with a pleasant fullness in the mid-palate. The finish is characterized by notes of white flowers and salinity. A complex, refined, and elegant wine.
* Côtes de Provence red wine, Cuvée L'Esprit de Provence
Intense ruby robe with a hint of garnet. The nose is intense and complex, mingling notes of black fruit, green olive, earth, and stewed blackberry. The palate is initially round and supple. Gentle spicy aromas harmoniously complement the well-integrated, high-quality tannins. Tones of black fruit and notes of white pepper and black berries complete the delicious body. Both generous and refined. Decant before serving.
