About
The Boyer family has been perpetuating the winemaking tradition since 1660. They will speak to you about their terroir and their wines with passion and enthusiasm...
Saint Jean le Vieux is nestled in a magical landscape in the heart of the Var department. This 65-hectare family estate stretches out at the foot of the Sainte Baume Massif, in the basin of a former dried-up lake.
The estate benefits from a warm and dry microclimate with cool nights thanks to the presence of the Sainte Baume massif to the South and the Sainte Victoire massif to the West.
For the Boyer family, being a winemaker is a family affair. Since 1660, each new generation has been driven by the same ambition: to make the most of the land they have just inherited.
In 1977, the Boyer family established the Saint-Jean-Le-Vieux winery. In 1989, the two brothers, Pierre and Claude Boyer, took over management. Today, in the vineyards and in the cellars, they ensure the development of the family estate, combining traditional winemaking with mastery of new technologies.
From 1999 onwards, they committed themselves wholeheartedly to a process of preserving nature and moved towards sustainable agriculture.
The Domaine has been certified and qualified under the 'Terra Vitis' sustainable farming label since 2002, and HVE3 since 2019, with a view to harvesting grapes that best express their qualities: maintenance of natural grass cover between rows, plowing and uprooting of the vines, hoeing of the soils and manual fruit removal, training of the vines "in cordon de royat" limiting yields, application of organic fertilizers, treatment of diseases based on observation of the plant.
Their wines express their values and passions.
They have also created two new vintages:
- Perle rosé, a sparkling wine made using the Traditional Method
- Cuvée Fausta, an expressive rosé wine with aromas of the Provençal terroir.
