The Markets of Sanary-sur-Mer
About
Markets have endured through the centuries. Their primary purpose was to simplify the supply of goods to towns and villages, but they have also always provided a way to stay informed of the latest news.
Organised in the heart of the village, around the fishing port, the Sanary Markets are a true celebration of Provençal culture.
These traditional markets, which punctuate local life, are places of discovery, commercial exchange and encounters, where everyone is both an actor and a spectator.
Throughout the year, Sanary offers several markets with very distinct characteristics.
The daily market, full of colours and scents, is an ode to local flavours.
The flower market offers a wide selection of plants, bouquets and brightly coloured cut flowers, grown locally, every morning.
The fish market, from Tuesday to Sunday, offers a wide variety of seafood and fish, which are as much a feast for the eyes as for the taste buds.
Depending on the weather, the fishermen's stalls display the day's catch, brought back from a short distance from Sanary by local fishermen.
The weekly market, voted the most beautiful market in France by TF1 viewers, takes place every Wednesday morning. The stalls vary with the seasons, offering both food and non-food products in a typically Provençal atmosphere.
The nighttime craft market takes place every evening during the summer season. This high-quality market showcases numerous creative artisans who demonstrate their talent.
