Comics Exhibition - Joëlle Jolivet & Katrin Stangl, two appearances

About

Illustrator Joëlle Jolivet needs no introduction.

Since her debut, Joëlle Jolivet has published more than 50 children's books, translated all over the world.

Among other things, he is responsible for the brilliant "Miss Chat" series published by Hélium, with Jean-Luc Fromental writing the text.

During a recent workshop, Joëlle Jolivet worked for the first time with the German illustrator Katrin Stangl, who also illustrates children's books.

From this unique encounter came the desire to propose, together, a joint exhibition in the form of cross-perspectives on their love of linocut.

To create their images in very different styles, both carve the linoleum with their gouge, then ink and print it, in black or in color, each color requiring a pass.

// About the exhibition //
On Saturday, April 11th, starting at 4 pm, Joëlle Jolivet and Katrin Stangl will kick off the comics festival in Aix-en-Provence. A moment to share with children, but not only! Between meet-and-greets, book signings, and engraving demonstrations, the two artists will also be presenting the results of their joint workshop, entitled "Voisinage" (Neighborhood). This European project, which blends printmaking and linocut, will be featured in an exhibition and a large-format collector's edition journal. The latter will be given away on-site on the day of the event.

// Neighborhood: European graphic journal //
In a time of ups and downs, taking out the gouges to question the notion of neighbor has never been more necessary.

Using linocut, mixed media and a limited color palette (red, green and black), Voisinage confronts practices and questions places of sharing to lift the veil on what makes us human, beyond borders.

Under the direction of two established artists, he brings together in a common journal the creations of fifteen students from the École Supérieure d'Art d'Aix-en-Provence and the Akademie der Bildenden Künste in Nürnberg.
