Vincent Schoepfer Exhibition - Cynara — Vestiges of a Transformed Refusal
About
Vincent Schoepfer proposes an original project that explores the links between gesture, matter and time, between ancient heritage and contemporary perspectives.
Inspired by the legend of Cynara, a young mortal punished for disobeying, the exhibition questions the mechanisms of a power that tolerates neither withdrawal nor the resumption of autonomy, and that inscribes the sanction in bodies and in matter.
The installations create a journey between transformation and resistance. In the refectory, a field of sandstone artichokes evokes a transformed body, rendered mute and enduring. In the dormitory, a monumental confrontation restores Cynara's human presence, in the face of a deactivated power.
Through this project, the artist makes visible the stories and bodies whose speech has been altered or silenced, and questions how refusal can be transformed into a fault, then inscribed as a lasting trace.
