The war memorial in the cemetery
About
It is a vast composition, 5 m high, with various symbols referring to the prosperity and terroir of Cuers.
Two cornucopias overflowing with fleshy fruits and blooming flowers frame the municipal coat of arms.
The central relief is a Victory crowned with olive branches, offering the crown and the palm.
The coronation is a trophy, replicating the armor and crested helmet of Roman soldiers.
These depictions are reminiscent of the village's Roman origins. Three shells and two howitzers surround the majestic building.
The Cannes architect Charles Seasal created this monument, which was inaugurated on November 1, 1916. It was enriched in 1919. Then, plaques were added paying tribute to the "Dead for the Fatherland" of the two world wars and one indicating the locations of the battles where the valiant men of Cuers perished.
