San Peïre Square
About
Today, Place San Peïre forms the lively heart of Les Issambres. Restaurants, shops and public services are concentrated there, making it an essential meeting point on the seafront.
The history of the neighborhood begins at the start of the 20th century, when wealthy families from all over France built residences between the Pointe de l'Arpillon and the Garonnette river. In 1926, the Union Générale Foncière launched a housing development project called "Village provençal de San Peïre," in homage to Saint Peter, patron saint of fishermen.
After the Second World War, the district experienced a real boom: shops appeared, the hotel industry developed, and services gradually established themselves. Place San Peïre then became the lively and friendly center of Les Issambres, around which coastal life was organized.
