Commemorative plaque of the Liberation

About

In 1964, the RHIN & DANUBE association, at the national level and in agreement with the government, suggested placing a marble plaque in every town and city crossed by the Liberation armies, thus reminding future generations of the date of each town's liberation. The plaque in Cuers, unveiled on August 17, 1964, bears the following inscription:

«"THE FIRST FRENCH ARMY COMMANDED BY GENERAL DE LATTRE DE TASSIGNY, FORGED IN AFRICA AND ITALY, LANDING IN PROVENCE, REINFORCED BY THE FRENCH FORCES OF THE INTERIOR, LIBERATED CUERS ON AUGUST 17, 1944, IN ITS VICTORIOUS MARCH TO THE RHINE AND DANUBE"»
