Elephant Beach

About

Elephant Beach, located a short distance from the center of Sainte-Maxime, was made famous by the comic strip "Voyage de Babar" by Jean de Brunhoff, published in 1932.

The creator of Babar stayed in this area of Sainte-Maxime and he was inspired by this magnificent landscape to illustrate the famous hot air balloon honeymoon of Babar and his wife Celeste.

Today, the De Brunhoff house still exists and still overlooks the sea.

This unspoiled beach is perfect for relaxing in peace and quiet and sunbathing!

Unsupervised beach.
Two areas along the municipality's coastline are open to dogs year-round, namely:

the city centre dog beach: this is a section of the city centre beach located opposite the Préconil bridge; ;
the land-based part of Pointe des Sardinaux: this natural site (Sensitive Natural Area) is a space for exchanges for many dogs.

On the beaches of the City Centre (with the exception of the aforementioned area), Oursins, Nartelle, Garonnette and the southern end of Pointe des Sardinaux, they are prohibited all year round.

Dogs must be kept on a leash and their waste must be picked up. Guide dogs and assistance dogs are allowed on all beaches.
