Cycling the Mediterranean - Stage 4: Meyrargues > Draguignan
About
Cette étape fait partie de l'itinéraire "La Méditerranée à vélo" partie française de l'EuroVelo 8.
This stage starts at Meyrargues station and goes to Draguignan where you can reach Les Arcs station by taking the "La vigne à vélo" route.
At first, this delightful stage of the Mediterranean by Bike route in the Upper Var feels like riding on a castle hilltop! You'll also encounter many cyclists on the "Castles of Western Upper Var" circuit. The privately owned Château de Saint-Martin-de-Pallières exemplifies this characteristic; all the remarkable heritage sites are perched atop the villages. After winding country roads, the route follows former railway lines. The Vallon des Carmes site in Barjols and the Sillans waterfall offer pleasant, refreshing moments. Between Salernes and Flayosc, the old Provence railway line meanders through a breathtaking, almost wild gorge. Once you've conquered the climb to Le Flayosquet, there's a technical descent towards Draguignan.
This section is being progressively developed by the Bouches-du-Rhône and Var Departments; it still presents several challenges, so please drive carefully. The route is signposted, but on sections not yet developed, a temporary route with specific signage is in place.
