Astros Castle

About

In Provence, in the heart of the Var, 680 ha of preserved nature, 70 ha of vines and 7 ha of apple trees.
On one side, organic wines in AOP Côtes-de-Provence and IGP Var; on the other, a historical heritage, a family tradition since 1802.

Château by Astros: A journey through time in the heart of Provence

The story of Astros' Château reads like a novel: an epic saga spanning more than 8 centuries, blending Templar knights, Renaissance spirit and a Marseilles family.

This property has been in the Maurel family since 1802. Bernard Maurel is the current owner. Bruno Maurel (one of the four children), a priest at the Jean-Joseph Allemand Youth Institute in Marseille, represents the eighth generation and currently manages the estate, assisted by his nephews and nieces.

The property has always had a wine-growing vocation, and has been certified as organic farming since 2020.
We produce, in particular, rosé wines with AOP and IGP designations recognized beyond our borders.
We also cultivate apples on 7 hectares and olive trees on half a hectare using organic farming methods.

A team of passionate professionals welcomes you to share their local area, their passion and their expertise.

You can take advantage of your visit to explore the estate by taking our many hiking trails, enjoy a tasting with our experts or book a guided tour to learn the secrets of winemaking and hear the history of the property.
