Conceived as a focused yet ambitious journey, the exhibition brings together a rare selection of his most emblematic works, chosen in dialogue with his friend and collaborator Donatien Grau. Spanning his entire career, this display offers a unique opportunity to appreciate the consistency of his inventiveness and the radical freedom of his artistic language.

Painting, sculpture, and hybrid surfaces are powerfully deployed here. The use of pre-existing materials, broad gestures, and monumental formats blur the boundaries between abstraction and figuration, rendering their opposition obsolete. For Schnabel, painting becomes a field of ongoing experimentation, fueled by chance, found objects, and a profoundly intuitive approach to form.

In conjunction with this presentation, a series of new paintings depicting Mediterranean umbrella pines, specially selected by the artist, is on display at La Bastide. These works engage with the Provençal landscape of Château La Coste and extend the exhibition throughout the site until the end of June, highlighting the artist's ongoing commitment to experimentation and renewal.
