Oratory of the hamlet of Notre Dame des Maures

Cassini's map of 1788 mentions a chapel in this area.
It no longer appears on the 1828 land registry.
To address visitors' questions about the absence of a place of worship in such an evocative location, the hamlet's elder had this oratory built in 1995.
6 out of 8 oratories identified in La Londe bear witness to a Marian devotion, which is strong in Provence.
The oldest one, dating from 1869, also honors Our Lady of the Moors. Difficult to access today, until the 1940s it was the object, on August 15th and on All Saints' Day, of a Rogation procession dedicated to the divine blessing of the crops.
Starting from the church of the Nativity, it passed by two vanished oratories bordering the RD 88, before reaching that of Our Lady of the Moors.
