Association of winegrowers of Pierrefeu - Cuers - Puget Ville
About
The vineyards of this terroir designation are located between the Mediterranean Sea, the hills of the Massif des Maures, and the limestone plateaus of central Var. Twelve communes (in whole or in part) are included in the delimited area of Côtes de Provence Pierrefeu: Carnoules, Carqueiranne, Collobrières, Cuers, La Crau, La Farlède, La Garde, La Valette, Le Pradet, Pierrefeu-du-Var, Puget-Ville, and Solliès-Pont.
This area still benefits from the influence of the Mediterranean Sea as well as continental influences from the interior. Temperature variations are moderate, with high summer and spring temperatures. The vineyards are situated at an altitude of less than 400 meters.
The soils of this sector are divided into 3 main categories: the red sandy-clay soils characteristic of the Permian Depression, the stony soils (calcareous pebbles) with a red clay-sand matrix of the plain and the brown-red silty-clay soils covered with schist pebbles of the hillsides.
