Rashid Johnshon, Sheree Hovsepian and Friends
About
A group of 3 exhibitions: Rashid Johnson, Sheree Hovsepian and a final group exhibition commissioned by Johnson and Hovsepian
Rashid Johnson presents an exhibition of paintings, sculptures and films at the Oscar Niemeyer Pavilion.
Installed throughout the Oscar Niemeyer Auditorium, the exhibition brings together paintings and new sculptures, including bronzes specially created for Château La Coste. A film will be shown in the Oscar Niemeyer Auditorium, extending Johnson's interest in time, voice, and collective experience.
Working across photography, painting, drawing, assemblage, and sculpture, Hovsepian explores the instability of identity and perception through fragmentation, absence, and reconfiguration. Created specifically for Piano's light-filled underground pavilion, the new sculptures respond to the building's openness and natural light, activating the space through subtle tensions between mass and void, intimacy and scale.
Featuring the works of over sixteen artists, the exhibition brings together close friends and long-standing fellow artists. Born from the couple's shared commitment to dialogue and mutual support, the exhibition highlights community as both subject and structure. Rather than adhering to a single thematic framework, it offers a space shaped by relationships, generosity, and the conviction that artistic practice thrives on networks of solidarity and exchange.
